Following New York, Milan, Trieste, Istanbul, Berlin and London, Galleria illy opens in Beijing on October 26, 2012.
THE GUESTS
The love and cultivation of art is part of illy’s DNA. Galleria illy will host an array of contemporary artists, each internationally renowned in his field. Events include lectures by the architect, product and furniture designer Ron Arad who will discuss his re-creation of the form and structure of living; Liu Wei on therole of the sculptor in materialized views, and the art critic and author Lü Peng on contemporary Chinese art. Artist Lin Tian Miao will be joined in conversation by museum director Melissa Chu and photographer Sebastião Salgado, whose ethical approach has earned him the honor of UNICEF ambassador, will unveil his images of Chinese coffee growers as part of his photographic journey through the coffee-growing lands.
And because beauty is not limited to the field of fine arts, or even just the visual arts, Galleria will include performances by students of China Central Academy of Fine Arts, and there will also be beautiful things to taste. The art of gastronomy will be well represented by Spanish chef and master of molecular cuisine Josean Alija of the restaurant Guggenheim in Bilbao, and Italian chef Pino Cuttaia whose eggplant cannoli win both the eye of the art critic art and the palate of the gastronome. And not to be missed, a tasting session of Mastrojanni wines including the famed Brunello di Montalcino, representing the excellence of Italian wine production.
Follow Galleria as it celebrates the pleasure of art, style and taste as a beautiful expression, like the great spiral chandelier, of illy's philosophy and values.
