New York City Wine & Food Festival

Renowned Italian coffee company’s groundbreaking sustainable home to serve as Welcome Center; illy to donate $1 to the Food Bank For New York City & Share Our Strength® for every coffee purchased at partner cafés during the Festival

NEW YORK, New York, September 22nd, 2011  - It’s one thing to take center stage, and quite another to bring it.  Illy, is about to do both at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by FOOD & WINE (NYCWFF), where the storied Italian coffee company is providing the event’s welcome center in the form of Push Button House, a portable study in sustainable living, located at 10th Avenue and West 15th Street from September 30th-October 2nd.   The visually striking structure, centerpiece of officially-dubbed illy Park Welcome Center, will also host book signings and discussions with contemporary cuisine’s brightest, and invite festival guests to experience the world’s finest coffee.

2011 marks illy’s fourth year sponsoring NYCWFF, where guests have come to expect the signature red and white illy logo, and complimentary coffee prepared by illy Master Barista and Atlantic.com contributor, Giorgio Milos.  Push Button House provides an ideal environment to observe and enjoy Milos’s craft: an elegantly contemporary five-room home that, at one touch of button, emerges quite unexpectedly from a used shipping container.  Documented in a multi-award-winning film, the project was imagined by visionary artist and architect Adam Kalkin, and stands where illy’s passion for art, innovation and sustainability come together.

Alton Brown, Giada de Laurentiis, Guy Fieri and Bobby Flay are among Food Network favorites and other culinary stars slated to visit illy Park Welcome Center for book signings and thought-provoking discussions throughout NYCWFF.  Illy will also be served at NYCWFF events hosted by Giada de Laurentiis, Whoopi Goldberg and Sandra Lee.

To further celebrate the Festival, illy will donate $1 to the Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength, the Festival’s benefactors, for every cup or can of illy coffee purchased from September 30th – October 2nd at participating partners including Café on One at the America Museum of National History, Lincoln Center’s at65 café, Bisco Latte, Circo, Frame, Fresco on the Go, Jacques Torres, J&R, Little Cupcake Bakeshop, Milan Luxury, Milux Café and The New York Times café.  Coffee purchases made on illyusa.com during the time period will also qualify.
