Festival Miden - call for entries 2010
Video Art Festival Miden invites all video artists and video creators to participate in this year’s events, which will take place, like the past five years, in public spaces at the Historic Centre of the city of Kalamata, Greece, in July 2010.
The festival call is open to every creator (individuals, groups or organizations) of any nationality and background.
The proposed video can be of any genre (video art, experimental video, animation, short movie etc.). Duration under 10 min.In its 6th realization, along with the main program, Festival Miden wishes to present the following additional special showcases:
- a special theme program entitled “ Sound & vision, music & video ”
- a special theme program entitled “ Land/e/scape ”
- a special theme program entitled “Money”
- also, this year a special theme program entitled “Supernatural” will be curated by guest curator Maria Bourika, based in UK. -

Visions in the Nunnery 2010, London
We are now accepting applications for moving image and performance artists to apply to our international open submission event. This year promises to be more ambitious than ever before.
Visions in the Nunnery is an annual event that showcases some of the most exciting British and International artists who are pushing the elements moving image and performance practice. It is also an opportunity for artists and audiences to engage with the selected work both visually and through critical debate. -

DA Fest
DA Fest launches a call for experimental films for its international screening programme.
We will consider all genres and styles, that show new voices and new perspectives, including experimental film and video, art film, animation, etc.
Films should be up to 20 minutes in length.The 2010 festival is to take place from 13 to 17 September 2010, and aims to present current contemporary trends and practices in the digital arts in an ambitious 5-day programme.

1. upload the film with the online form (for digital files up to 50 MB)
2. send us a link where we can see your film online or download a preview
3. send a DVD with the film, by mail, to the address given at the bottom of the form.

Sharjah Art Foundation/ The Production Programme
We are delighted to announce the Sharjah Art Foundation 2010 Open Call for Submissions. In this funding cycle the Production Programme will offer artists grants of up to $100,000 for the realisation of individual projects.
Artists working in a range of media including sculpture, installation, time-based media, artist books and performance are invited to propose imaginative, ambitious and inspirational projects that will transform our understanding of what art is and how it can be experienced. -

VIDEOHOLICA 2010 - CALL FOR VIDEO SUBMISSIONS
The 3rd edition of the VIDEOHOLICA INTERNATIONAL VIDEO ART FESTIVAL 2010 will take place in the period 10 – 17 August 2010 in Varna within the framework of the 7th issue of the International Biennial for Visual Arts AUGUST IN ART
VIDEOHOLICA 2010 will present a series of video art projections and exhibitions and will make presentations of well-known international video art forums and honored video artists in parallel with discussions concerning video art topics.
The 3rd festival edition will pass under the KEEP THE ILLUSION ALIVE motto.
In the process of increasingly stiffening economic spheres, multimedia, hyper realities and cybernetic culture, ‘the network of simulacra’ has become increasingly live phenomenon. High technologies, information, internet, clicking, downloading, setting commands, editing memories, cutting out dreams! The art sets the issue: "Shall we use all this, or shall we transform ourselves into very it?" The "hyper reality", thus created, dictates personality’s behavior, perception and consciousness, causing loss of subjectivity. The motto of this year's festival appeals to preserving one’s identity/ authenticity in the process of mass modification and unification of the individual. The term "illusion" is the subject of many cultural, sociological, religious, philosophical and psychological studies from the time of postmodernism, and continues to be a live issue, both with positive and negative connotations. In this sense, the conservation/ preservation of the unreal is a negation of the material world and a protest against the omnipotence of information, socio-cultural and politico-economic speculations.The decisions about the selection of the videos will be made by the 5-member jury.
All the applicants, who observe the rules and the deadline, will have admission to the jury, which will take place in July 2010. The final results will be announced and sent to the applicants by e-mail by the end of July 2010. The jury will make representative selection of 20 movies.
