The new illy Art Collection has been designed by Matteo Thun, with a fingerprint featured on the cup that he created thirty years ago, to convey the powerful optimism that human touch can bring to the world. A symbol of the manifesto for the 54th edition of the Barcolana, the contours of the human fingerprint evoke the movement of the sea and the currents carrying empathy, vitality and spontaneity.
The artist
Matteo Thun, architect and designer, works internationally with his own studio through projects inspired by timeless simplicity and centred on the human scale. His work is based on the concept of technological and aesthetic longevity. In 1991, he created the white illy coffee cup par excellence as the perfect espresso container, with the aim of enhancing the sensations of every sense involved in tasting.
