Restaurant SENSO, MART Museum
Rovereto
1 Michelin star
Trentino’s mountain chef
A unique style and painstaking attention to detail and presentation: these are Alfio Ghezzi’s trademarks. Having grown up in the kitchens of luxury hotels, such as Cortina’s Miramonti & Majestic, the St. Hubertus in Madonna di Campiglio, Salsomaggiore Terme’s Regina, and Villa Cortine Palace in Sirmione, Ghezzi began working at Villa Serbelloni on Lake Como, and subsequently for Gruppo Marchesi, at the Hosteria dell’Orso in Rome and Casinò Les Princes in Cannes.
After his stint with Marchesi, he began to work with the master’s star pupil, Andrea Berton, head chef at Milan’s Trussardi alla Scala.
In March 2010 he returned to Trentino, working for the Lunelli family at Locanda Margon, where he earned his first Michelin star, which became two stars in November 2016.
Alfio Ghezzi left Locanda Margon in summer 2019 to open his own restaurant, Senso, at the Mart Museum in Roveredo, remaining faithful to his native Trentino. In 2021, Senso was awarded a Michelin star of its own.
