About illy Caffè: illy Caffè, founded in 1933 by Francesco Illy in Trieste, Italy, is a cornerstone of espresso history. We've been at the forefront of coffee innovation since the beginning. In 1935, Francesco Illy revolutionized the coffee world with the invention of the Illetta, a precursor to modern espresso machines. The Illetta was the first to separate water heating from steam pressure, laying the groundwork for contemporary espresso technology.

The creation of the Illetta was a significant milestone in our history, and the iperEspresso system continues this legacy by providing an easy, consistent way to enjoy professional-quality espresso at home.
