The classic Italian-designed Bialetti Moka Express is an icon in the world of stove top coffee. Since the 1950’s Bialetti has been manufacturing these beloved Italian moka pots with a distinctive eight-sided shape. The intriguing shape of the aluminum pot, bearing the unique mark of the "little fellow with the moustache", allows the ideal diffusion of heat to enhance the flavor and aroma of your coffee.
While they sound similar, In Italy, ordering a Caffe Moka is quite different from a Mocha in the US. Moka pots were invented in 1930s Italy. The name refers to the city of Mocha, Yemen, for many centuries a center of coffee excellence. These Small, two-chambered coffee makers sit on many Italian stovetops, producing a full-bodied aromatic coffee – with no chocolate syrup in sight.
Fill the lower chamber of the coffee pot with water up to the valve. Insert the filter and add the ground moka coffee, fill it completely without packing the coffee down. Screw the top chamber onto the base and place it on the stove over low heat. Remove the pot from the heat when you hear it begin to gurgle, just as the coffee begins to boil and starts to rise. Mix the coffee with a teaspoon and pour into the cup to enjoy.
