Set of 2 cappuccino cups - the Lee Ufan illy Art Collection
Lee Ufan’s iconic strokes light up the surfaces of the cups in this illy Art Collection, a reference to the dense brush strokes of the “Winds” and “Correspondence” series.
Born in Korea, Lee Ufan is highly respected and renowned for his minimalist sculptures and paintings, which focus on the viewer’s experiential engagement with the place for which they were created. Infinity is a central theme of Lee’s work, evidenced in his iconic series of paintings, where the artist elevates the process of applying colour to the canvas with minimalist brush strokes, lines or dots.
“The brushstroke with which I created the illy Art Collection express relationships and their complex nature, which we must simplify in order to grasp their true energy and power, connections that are also created thanks to a cup of coffee and the ritual that has been built around human relationships, developing moments of meeting and true socialization”.
Born in Korea in 1936, Lee Ufan lives and works between Paris, New York and Kamakura, Japan. He is highly respected and renowned for his minimalist sculptures and paintings, which focus on the viewer’s experiential engagement with the place for which they were created. Lee Ufan is the theoretical leader of the avant-garde Japanese movement of Mono-ha (the School of Things). He has made a significant contribution to different painting and sculpture movements, which have in turn defined the art scene since the Second World War.
