In the early 1930s, Francesco Illy’s fledgling company had interests in coffee and cocoa. After developing two landmark advances in coffee within just two years, he chose to focus exclusively on coffee, sensing tremendous potential in his new innovations.
Today President Riccardo Illy leads the family-owned holding company Gruppo illy SpA, with interests in chocolate, tea, wine and confections – each, not coincidentally, complementary to coffee.
Gruppo illy’s mission is to seek fine food and beverage companies nurtured by entrepreneurs who share the Illy family’s passion for quality, and for growth pursued the right way.
