Alanis Morissette Designs the Latest illy Art Collection Dedicated to Sustainability

New collection on sale exclusively on Costa Crociere cruises from late April

Trieste, 18 April 2016
Alanis Morissette is the artist who has designed the latest illy Art Collection, which is inspired by the 2014 illycaffè-produced “A Small Section of the World” documentary – a multi-generation story of passion and resilience among a small community of coffee-producing women in Costa Rica. Lyrics from documentary soundtrack song “The Morning” adorn the espresso cup and saucer.

Directed by Oscar-winning director Oscar Lesley Chilcott, “A Small Section of the World” is a film inspired by the story of how the Asomobi Asociación de Mujeres Organizadas de Biolley (ASOMOBI), the country’s first women coffee-growers’ association, came into being. On this emotional journey of discovery, a cup of coffee transforms the lives of many women as they succeed in fully realizing their potential.

Social sustainability is an issue that is close to illy’s heart. The company has also long had a significant focus on the role women play in the coffee world by promoting and supporting training for women. All of the proceeds from sales of the Alanis Morissette illy Art Collection and from iTunes downloads of the song “The Morning” will give tangible support to the education and emancipation of women who work on the coffee production chain.

This collection by the multi-award-winning American artist will be available on board the Costa Crociere fleet as part of a special two-month advance sale period. In 2014, illy signed a major partnership agreement with Costa Crociere in acknowledgement of the two companies’ shared sustainability-led values and commitments.

From mid-June onwards, the two identically-decorated illy Art Collection espresso cups, a DVD of “A Small Section of the World” and a 250 g tin of illy coffee may be purchased from illy sales outlets and from the www.illy.com website.

The package of two espresso cups, the DVD and a 250 g tin of coffee is priced at €45.00.
